Austin Studio Tour 2021 in Person At Last

Updated: Jul 26, 2022

What a joy it was to see so many faces that came out to support local artists here in Austin. Seeing that spark in others that comes through connecting with your work is so magical and long has been missed.
This was my first time showing in person in over a year since the pandemic. I LOVED IT!!! I brought my daughter with me on the first weekend. She brought a charm jewelry kit that her grandparents gave her as a gift and I told her to make bracelets and necklaces to sell. She quickly went to work and oh how this girl can hustle. Wow!!! Let's just say she and her necklaces were a hit!!!

I couldn't be more proud of her confidence in showing her art. There are adults who take years to feel ready to present their work. With this being said, she asked me if she could have a show, like Sevy, a young artist I spoke on in an art documentary recently. Click here for the blog post on that.
Her request really stuck with me and yes, yes, my heart told me. She's ready. She's ready to show. So I decided we would take the holiday breaks to put a body of work together. I decided that we would collaborate on a few pieces and then create our solo pieces separately. This will give us an opportunity to both grow and learn to let go of control, allowing another artist to come onto each other's canvas, we'll see how this goes.
Stay tuned!!!! Aaliyah is so excited to show the world what she can do! Also make sure to subscribe to my email list to get that invite to our Mother/Daughter Showcase!!!
