Bruno has been battling a liver disease for about a year and a half now, we've been using different medications to treat it and try to keep the damage to his system under control. I recently came home from a weekend away and noticed he wasn't feeling well. His sitter said that he wasn't eating and we found several places in the house in which he had vomited. I went to give him his medication which I would smear in peanut butter, this was a treat for him and he usually loved it. When I went to give it to him he turned his cheek and refused it. I immediately knew there was something wrong.
When did Bruno ever refuse food? Then I noticed that he was shivering and he was sick. I took him to our vet and he was hospitalized for Jaundice. The next morning they had arranged for an opening at the Central Texas Specialty Vet which would be able to give him an ultrasound and take a look at his liver. They realized this gallbladder was greatly enlarged and he needed emergency surgery to have it removed. They literally told me, that if I didn't do the surgery he would die. Within 15-20 minutes we went through the paperwork and the team prepped him for surgery. Bruno's gallbladder ruptured during surgery but luckily they were able to contain it and he made it through. He spent three nights in the hospital and he is now home with us. The doctors were very happy with his recovery and said he is doing fantastic. Now the reality of the cost accrued are hitting us. The out of pocket cost for surgery is quite high. And we could use your help to buffer the unexpected cost and continue his medical care.
Bruno is a sweet gentle soul. He loves people, other dogs, cuddling and of course lots of treats. I have always wanted to have Bruno become a therapy dog, he is so fantastic with people and has a magical way of making you feel loved. For one reason or another I have put this on hold, work, parenting, not enough time. I have made a promise to Bruno and myself that we will see this through and bring joy and smiles to those that are in nursing homes and or hospice and need a boost in morale. I so strongly believe in the power of positive energy to support your immune system to bring on healing.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Bruno and helping us to pay it forward and help others who are going through hard times. I hope that you find it in your heart to donate to Bruno's medical fund and say a quick prayer for the little guy.
